Self-esteem is basically people having an opinion of
themselves. People with high self-esteem are confident and live their life to
the fullest. Low self-esteem makes it difficult to accept responsibilities which
inturn hinders you from opportunities and you are unable to accept new
challenges. This will block you from having a fulfilling experience of life.
You experience a lot of ups and downs in your relationships. Low self esteem
makes you feel like a failure in life, you feel unworthy, incompetent and this
can cause some serious mental disorders, such as borderline mental disorder and
depression. You become so harsh on yourself and judge yourself so badly.
When I was a kid, my neighbours made fun of my complexion
since I am the only one with dark complex among my siblings and that really
made me cry and question myself. I never had that courage to accept and love myself
the way I was. As the years passed on and I grew elder, I realized that I had a
very low self-esteem. And after getting the concept clear, I started working on
my thoughts and made myself understand that the colour of a person doesn’t
really signifies the character of a person and this made me accept and love the
way I am. And later, people pointing out at my complexion did not really bother
me anymore. This is just a small case of low esteem. There are nearly around 85%
of people suffering from low self-esteem.
When it comes to overcoming low self-esteem, below are the
things you to do to be the person you are meant to be:
Stop Comparing Yourself to Others
I think our comparison should be only with ourselves. Comparison
with other lead to negative self-image which inturn lead to poor self esteem,
stress, depression and anxiety which can ruin our relationships, work, physical
and mental health.
Not being judgemental
When we develop the quality of not being judgemental, we
will simply be able to accept ourselves and others, we will be able to accept
all the success and failures without any pride or shame.

It is very important to live in the moment
When we live in the moment, we are more focused and choose
our actions wisely, not affected by the hurts in the past and with no worries
and hopes about our future.

Know/Accept your flaws
No one is born perfect. Everyone has flaws and it is very
important to know and accept yourself the way you are and understand and acknowledge
where you need change. You should also be aware when you are too critical of
yourself and start working on these so that there are no negative emotions developed.
Not being Oversensitive
Being oversensitive is one of the painful aspects of low self-esteem. We can avoid this by not taking each comment made on us too seriously. If something is unfair, it is better to disagree on the same. And if something turns out to be truth, we can accept it positively and try to make change for better. Not stressing on things and moving on.
Physical Activity
Exercise/Yoga is a physical activity that helps a person feel
better. Do as many physical activity as you can. And while you are doing it alone,
you will surely be able to find yourself.
Maintain a Journal
Maintain a journal where you can mention the ways you have
succeeded in building a self-esteem and they ways you have struggled and sooner
you will find out that the success are greater that your setbacks.

List some good things about yourself
List down the things you are good at and this should kept
close to you. Whenever you feel low and doubt yourself, looking at the list
will surely make you feel good about yourself.
TREAT YOURSELF WITH THE SAME LOVE AND RESPECT YOU WANT TO
SHOW OTHERS!!!
